How would I discipline a child if I were a father?

Parents are completely forgetting psychological warfare these days. Catholic Church style, odd punishments, looking for the line between cruel and spare the rod spare the child.
I have no idea, no idea how I’d do it, kinda glad it’s not a question I have to think about.
I like to think I’d talk, like to think I would try to reason and ration and try your best to find logical common ground with these little things.
On the other hand, seems like that led us into a generation of softie’s, along with the dichotomy of each person being a television channel.
I wouldn’t hit, don’t think I could do that, what I WOULD do is give choice, little shit,
