Devil four (tldr)

I don’t want to play Diablo 4,not really, I played Diablo 3 with a few game buddies and I dunno…

Such a grind 😢

There’s something called “a game loop” which means “the thing that keeps you coming back”.

In online shooters,it’s the thrill of the kill. Knowing that there’s a human being, somewhere on the planet, knowing that you just got the best of him.

In battlefield 1, there were 64 players. Two teams of 32, in WWI settings. As soon as the match would start, I’d take my sniper rifle and run as far away as the map would let me. I would get as high as I could, then I would lay down. Crawl.

The white death over here, Simo Huya , I broke out a little notepad and had Kevin spot for me. “One inch of bullet drop on my TV equals 100 meters in game”

The half mile headshot.

I’d watch the opposing team squad up,and try to flush me out of the mountains.

Even if they saw where the bullets were coming from,I had position. Ridiculously far away. Tucked into the trees.

A sincere pain in the ass. I could be a menace, unseen, stalking my way across a Ridgeline. Death from above.

See that game was skill based, and I have a soft spot for anything skill based. I admire and tip my hat and do all that appreciation stuff.

But modern games have become, eesh. Grind based. Gear based ,loot based.

“play more to get better shit, to play even more”

A clever device, but just a device. Have you ever heard the term Game Theory?

Really interesting, people thinking about what makes a game a game. And wanted to be engaged with.

Any sport (minus combat). Any tabletop game. Any card game, any virtual game.

I think games are a thing unique to humans. Really imaginative. Sometimes a time-waster, sometimes a mind occupying escape, sometimes a lot of negative.

But also fun, also sharpening, also stimulation.

Better not make it your whole life.

I was a very irritating sniper.
