I watched the most wonderful documentary last night,

I was completely enthralled ,well past the midnight hour, when I should have been sleeping.

I think it was called the contender, or the contestant,

I saw a producer credit at the end for Fred Armizen

(Armizen?)

Armisan?

The Saturday night live guy, Portlandia, he did that comedy special for drummers, which I thought was really fun.

Anyway, this documentary .

A bit tough to encapsulate the premise…

A Japanese version of the Truman show, before the Truman show,

And they put this random guy in a room,, and they took away his clothes and they literally starved him.

And the only way he could eat was by winning contests off of Japanese magazines.

It was incredible.

The emotions that they were able to capture off of this one character.

It reminded me of the biblical story of Job.

So fucking raw, so fucking real.

Pure humanity.

Unadulterated.

Unfiltered minus blurred genitals.

(covered)

The fucking heart on this guy…

Just some nobody…

The love inside of himself and the depths of madness that true isolation can lead you to.

I shed two tears..

I didn’t ball, I don’t seem to be able to do that, but the chemicals released inside of my brain,, just by watching this guy.

I felt so much for him.

It took place more than 15 years ago but there I was, just rooting for this guy.

And in a very odd way, you find yourself rooting for humanity in general.

Can’t recommend it enough.

Hulu.

The contender, the contestant, something like that.

Nasubi….

I had never even heard of this,, I love that dude.

I love seeing regular people win.

It was beautiful, and there’s no other word I could pick to describe it.

Highly recommend, give it a chance.

The clouds today are cumulus, and half cirrostratus. Maybe altostratus.. I feel like I need to know my clouds better, if I’m going to spend so much time looking at them.

There’s a lot going on up there today.

That’s all I’m trying to say.
