The first ancient man looking up at the sky, checking out all the stars, staring until his eyes water.

Looking for a pattern, looking for something,

There it is,

I see a hunter, I see fishes, I see a lion, I see a scorpion.

I picture little lines connecting in his imagination, some exciting feeling of understanding. Bet that guy really felt like he was on to something…

SO he told his friend, and a friend told a friend, then there was a little group.

The power of story,

Before that,, there was only the sun and the moon.

And sometimes rain.

Or fireballs in the sky.

But this group got together, they put all their brains together, and they mapped the perceivable sky.

What became of this information?

What was the end result of this pow-wow?

Seems like control, humble opinion,

Seems like the birthplace of story and guarded knowledge , a point in history where the groups really dug in to psychology.

Map the sky.

We know when winter will be, we know the phases of the moon, we even drew little characters up in the night sky, we gave them entire backstories and justification.

People do that shit,

they trick and they fool , they fuck around with money.

Pivot the subject to now,,

I don’t think anyone anticipated all the people of the world talking, in real time.

I don’t think anyone counted on that.

That internet thing.

SO what I feel now is,,shit let me try to phrase the best I can,

I suppose “growing pains”.

There’s a new way and it takes getting used to, it’s a different world.

Instead of shitting on it, sometimes I try to remember the good.

It’s possible, that general bullshit might get flushed out over the next 50 years.

Tough time for false prophets.

Tough time for anyone that can’t handle scrutiny, tough time for anyone that dislikes fact checking.

So maybe it’s a good thing.

I won’t say religion should go, not brazen enough to make such a dumb statement,, but the hucksters can go, perhaps information will reach enough people to cause ceasefires,,

Maybe knowledge will outdo these archaic and elaborate stories,, offering us “meaning”. Offering some degree of comfort, some different headspace, some feeling of “greater than”..

That’s a whole other subject.

I think the internet is a weapon against storylines, organic, as natural as a bunch of people talking,, people like to talk.

Maybe they’ll shut it all down…

I think it should be free, and I think every person has the right to yap.If the entire planet had the device in pocket, and the mouthpiece to the greater soup of humanity,,

I dunno, seems like communication is where it’s at,,,

And like it would be a fuck-load of gibberish to sift through.

Nothing I’ve ever said online, ever, ever,,,has gotten me punched in the face.

(That’s a problem too)

Fair enough, it’s a problem,

I can get better about being a smart-ass on the internet,

Just a character flaw, no biggie…

Somebody out there is going to start making new constellations before long, find something that tricks everyone else,

Then comes thousands more years of Barbary .

I value being able to type, I like that there’s somewhere I can go, and that’s just how it is
