My friend does that with some alcohol in him.
Look back on everything like it glitters..
I mean, it’s fine, it’s good to know that you have a heart, but you need to maintain objectivity..
It’s tough to do that when you’re feeling sentimental.
You tend to ignore the fights, the personality clashes,, the overall “unhealthy” nature of a failed connection..
Still..
It’s good to remember that you have a heart.
And if my tumultuous relationship ended with one of us drinking herself to death?
I’d probably do it too…
I dunno.
You can’t interject..
You can’t say
“Hey man, that shit was crazy!”
You’re crazy, and you hooked up with crazy, and she was trying to test you by being drunk when you showed up…
But she went too far.
And now she’s dead.
And she wasn’t a very good musician or conversationalist..
And you merely romanticize a situation because it ended so painfully, so jarring, so shocking..
Here today, gone tomorrow..
(Still…)
Still…
(You learn the most about yourself through pain)
Yeah….you do….
You shouldn’t be delusional though.
You should be able to look back and see all the colors, not just the ones you like.
You’ll end up blaming yourself..
And drinking every night,
And hiding.
And crying..
I imagine you’ll fall asleep to that pain, every night..
(Doesn’t have to be that way)
Yeah no shit.
Cold as it may be….
Be thankful for your eyes.
Be thankful for your ability to reason..
It might keep you safe in that galaxy of chaos.
Keep you solid when the world fucks with you….
