It’s out there, I’ve seen it.
Meh, the Pumpkins actually put out a lot of good music over the last 20 years.
They’re just in singles .
Like, they started doing something funny with the vocal mix, and since that point the entire mix has been off.
And the songwriting structure took on an entirely different approach. I guess you could call it smarter, I mean after writing in the same format for so long, I guess you would want to try something different.
And as the work gets smarter, the audience was getting dumber.
So a lot of it never really landed.
These are problems that have nothing to do with me, But they’re really worth some amazing moments.
The guitar solo of bring the light, the songwriting structure of things like speed kills, Saturnine , dross, and a good handful of others .
Some really smart work, just not designed to be absorbed by the popular ear.
At some point, people just start touring with the hits, it’s a foolproof method.
And I totally get it.
I can’t speak to anything that someone successful does, because I’m the opposite.
I think it’s just nature to speak regardless.
I don’t really think it’s a sin, but obviously try to read a room, which is intentionally impossible in this scenario.
Bizarre.
But different.
