There really is a shortage of guidance, I don’t mean ‘now’, just in the general sense.From my roots and the time I entered into.
Where do your values come from? Let’s do the short list.
Ideally-parents. You should get the best information from the person that was here before you. Elders.
Experience- hard headed types learn through scars.
Thinkers- you can tell whether or not a person has put time into their statements. In a book, through a joke, through a song.
Where you should not go for guidance is systems.(opinion).
God and Country, I don’t like being told how to be through either of those things. Judgement,shame,fear. There’s also positive takeaways, sure,, “do unto others” or ” live within the law”, sure, toddler logic.
I bet there’s a slice of the population that’s just like me. I bet there has always been handfuls of people that got really bad advice. The instinct is to rebel with everything you’ve got.
The teenage version of myself was like an animal let out of a cage.
You get past that, you figure it out the best you can and you press on. But now it’s different. Fucked up young people now have the luxury of all the voices in their pockets.
Heavy shit, the noise could really throw someone off course, but it’s also amazing. I wish I had it at 20. Not bummed for the past, just reflecting….I bet it’s a sincere amount of pressure.. being heard… but, if your heart is good then there’s nothing to worry about. You go out there and you say your words.
