law and order

If someone ran my criminal background.. yeah, I have a lot of ‘misdemeanor possession of marijuana’ charges. Like a lot..like,,I don’t know how many of those charges I have on my record, I once rolled pretty loose.

None of that matters, but it does mean that I’ve spent several days sitting through court.Listening, watching other people’s dramas unfold publicly. There was this one guy, this one case…

This guy walked into the courtroom dressed like walking guilt. No innocent person cares about his image that much.Perfect suit, perfect hair,a bit over the top even. The prosecutor started laying out his case…

The guy had been drinking in a bar attached to a mall, after too many ,they tossed him. He stumbled to his truck and people eating outside watched a baby pit-bull flee when he opened his truck. The puppy had been in there for hours,in the summer heat, it ran terrified to the people eating outside.

The drunk man came and grabbed the dog by it’s legs, dragged it across the parking lot as it yelped. Then he threw it at the side of the truck. One bystander immediately rose to intervene, another called the cops.

At this point the Judge, this fat, old, southern man interrupted the prosecutor .

“what do you think about us going outside? And I’ll drag YOU across the parking lot by your legs”

I got the chills. The voice of God, Zeus’s fucking lightning bolt cast down from heaven…

I got to see it. I got to see a real moment of ‘ good vs evil’. The judge implemented the maximum sentence to this asshole, I don’t quite remember what he got.

Law really is everything, and justice is a divine concept. As I get older, I recognize it more. Nothing but respect to the men and women that enforce our ‘just’ and ‘moral’ laws. Shame on the politician that games our systems, cheers to the one’s that actually care.

Happy ending, the bystanders that intervened ended up adopting the puppy, it was fine and I assume went on to live a happy life with love in it.
