Visualize a plain old keyboard, add a box with all the sounds in it.
When you hit a note on the keyboard,no audio is created, but a digital signal is sent to the sound box at the speed of electricity.
Extrapolate that to computers and voila.
The terms for these devices are simply accurate.
“master and slave”
One device must provide the clock that all other devices sync to. “Master MIDI clock” typically transported on midi channel 10.
The things you can do with Midi are fucking infinite.
I have a Midi capable guitar that lets me play string sections off one note.
I think people that fuck around with Midi are beyond wokeness🤣
