I sat in a parking lot, looking at the church crowd.
Opened my Fauxpium, downed a half,, and I just looked at them.
T-shirt weather, clouds above creeping by,, they were,,they were pulling their trucks up to each other, ignoring parking lines,, and they were gossiping..
I heard “Trump” and I heard “gas prices” and I heard,,get this,,, I heard “God has a plan”
I squinted my eyes together and lit a smoke..
(I remember that one..)
Yeah.. I remember the talk about a “plan”.
You know your town sucks when the grocery store parking lot is a popping place, on a Sunday..
But there was..there was some vibe in the air,, there was something coming off the people..
What is it?
(Fear)
Aye…uncertainty..
They…they don’t know what’s going to happen.
Which is life, it’s what we’ve been waking up to forever now.. you might die today,, but,,,
(But they’re so loud)
Sofa king loud..
They make so much noise.
So much black smoke comes out of those big trucks they like,,
No humility.
Nothing humble.
Never an ego death..
Die hard, die hard for a side and a book and a man,
Never questioning.. not once.. not once in a lifetime…
(Hmmm)
Tsk tsk…
I’m not like them.
I’m also not better than them..
They’re just,,, they’re so interesting to watch.
To eavesdrop on…
Maybe i was here for a reason..
I dunno…
The vibe is weird today,, in the grocery store parking lot.
And I was there to bear witness.
